Amazon Prime Day has officially started and ends within 48 hours at the end of July 13. If you’re a fan of Google hardware, be it Pixel phones, Nest smart thermostats or Chromecasts, there are plenty of tech gadgets on sale right now at shockingly low prices. These are our favourites.
The WIRED Gear team tests products all year round. We hand-sorted hundreds of thousands of deals to make these choices. Crossed out products are no longer in stock or are no longer discounted. Our Amazon Prime Day coverage page has the latest stories and our Prime Day Shopping Tips will help you avoid bad deals. You can also get a 1-year subscription to WIRED here for $5.

Deals on phones, laptops and earbuds
Google Pixel 6
If you’re in the market for a new Android phone, most people should go for the Pixel 6. This is the lowest price we’ve ever tracked and a great price. You get a 90Hz AMOLED display, wireless charging, the same powerful Tensor processor, and a great dual-camera system. Read our Pixel Phone guide for accessory tips and recommendations. It’s out of stock on Amazon, but you can still buy it for the sale price and Amazon will ship it when stock returns.
We like Google’s Pixel 6 Pro (9/10, WIRED recommended) because it has a spectacular camera system, with a great 4X optical zoom, a sharp 120Hz screen refresh rate with an AMOLED panel, and plenty of nifty smart software features powered by the Google Tensor Processor. Oh, and a battery that generally lasts an entire day. The phone has had quite a few bugs but many of the issues have now been fixed. This deal is also available at Target. Just know that the Pixel 7 Pro will arrive by the end of the year (and the Pixel 6A later this month).
If you can do all your work from the Chrome browser, a Chromebook might be all you need. This Pixelbook Go is getting a little old, but it’s still one of our favorite Chromebooks and works perfectly. The screen is bright, the keyboard is beautiful and this Core i5 model is powerful enough for most.
Google Pixel Buds A Series
These are our favorite earbuds (8/10, recommended by WIRED) for most people, and at this price they are even more affordable. You get instant pairing with many Android devices, great Google Assistant integration, IPX4 water resistance to protect them from sweaty workouts, and a comfortable, ergonomic design. They also sound pretty good! Just about the only downside is the 5-hour battery life, which is a bit low these days (although you can top it up a few times with the egg-shaped charging case). There’s also no wireless charging on the case, unfortunately, so you’ll need to connect it via USB-C. This deal is also available at Target.
This is Google’s first-generation wireless charger, not the newer, second-generation version (see below). It charges any device with support for wireless charging, be it landscape or portrait. Putting a Pixel phone on it gives you a few extra benefits, including mood lighting that mimics the sunrise, a digital photo frame feature, and quick access to smart home controls. Read our guide to the best wireless chargers for more options.
The second-generation Pixel Stand is a bit more limited. You get a similar system of benefits if you pair this phone with a Pixel phone, but any phone that supports wireless charging should charge just fine. However, you can only charge your phone in portrait orientation, not in landscape orientation. What’s nice about the Pixel Stand and its predecessor is that they don’t have any distracting LEDs, so they’re perfect for the bedside table, and they hold your phone upright so you can easily read notifications.
Doorbell & Security Camera Deals
Only certain colors are still included in this deal. The Nest video doorbell is our number one choice, second only to Arlo’s Essential, simply because it is more expensive. This is one of the lowest prices we’ve seen. It is easy to assemble and remove for charging (battery lasts more than a month). The smart notifications that identify faces and packages are also accurate, but you’ll need a Nest Aware subscription ($6 per month). You can also find this deal at Best Buy.
Need a security camera for indoors? This simple one looks elegant, can be mounted and has no battery, which means you have to plug it in. (On the plus side, you never have to charge it.) WIRED review editor Julian Chokkattu has had one on his front door for the past year and has had good experiences with it, although a subscription to Nest Aware will expand your video history. It is also available at Target.
This security camera works just like the indoor camera above, except it runs on batteries and can withstand rain, wind and snow. It has a 130-degree field of view and 1080p video, which WIRED editor Adrienne So says showed a clear view of her driveway, front door, and even most of her front yard. The battery should be charged after a little over a month. There is some stock fluctuation on Amazon, but you can also find it at Target.
If you’re planning to monitor a dark and gloomy area, this camera is functionally similar to the Nest Cam above, but it doesn’t run on a battery and has two spotlights on either side. The lighting can turn on automatically, for example when the camera detects movement. You can also set a schedule or use your voice to enable them. A similar deal is also available from Target.
Smart Speaker, Display & Router Deals
Chromecast with Google TV
Just plug it into your TV and you get a slick Google TV interface with all your favorite apps, including YouTube, Netflix and HBO. You can control the Chromecast (8/10, WIRED recommended) all via the included remote, or you can cast directly from your smartphone. It’s the best of both worlds. This deal is also available at Target.
Nest Wifi is easy to set up, looks elegant and ensures a reliable mesh network in your home. This deal is for the router and the point, so you can easily extend your coverage. The big disadvantage of this model? There’s no Wi-Fi 6 support, but since your devices need to support Wi-Fi 6 to take advantage of the new standard, that might not be an issue. This deal is also available at Target. Read our guide to the best mesh routers for more recommendations.
The new Nest Thermostat isn’t as smart as the original Nest Learning Thermostat, meaning it won’t learn or adapt to your habits, but you can still set schedules. It also lowers itself when you leave your house, saving you energy and you can control the temperature via the app. If you like how Google operates its smart home, we think you’ll like this.
The Nest Mini is the cheaper, smaller and smaller version of the Nest Audio. It doesn’t sound great, but it’s a great little speaker for small spaces in the house where you want to use your voice to control your smart home devices. You can also mount it on the wall (as long as there is an outlet nearby).
Google’s Nest Audio (8/10, WIRED recommended) is one of our favorite smart speakers. This is the typical deal price it drops to during major sales events. The Nest Audio is the successor to the original Google Home from 2016 and offers deeper bass and louder sound for better streaming. Of course, it’s powered by Google Assistant, so you can ask it anything you’d type into the Google search bar. Linking two together creates a solid stereo system. There is a physical switch to turn off the microphone, which we appreciate. This deal is also available at Walmart.
Nest Hub Max
Photo: Best buy
This is the lowest price we’ve seen for the Nest Hub Max (8/10, WIRED recommended). This version has a camera, so you can use it for video chatting. It’s a handy companion, as it can act as a security camera feed (if the camera supports it), walk you through cooking instructions, or simply act as a digital picture frame.
The camera-less Nest Hub is also available for purchase. This one has a 7-inch screen as opposed to the Nest Hub Max’s 10-inch screen, so it’s more suitable for small spaces like bedrooms. This second-generation model can also detect your sleeping habits in case you want to make sure you’re working for seven hours (no wearable required).
